Last night Ireland played France and the prize was a trip to the World Cup Finals in South Africa. 25’000 people came to France to support Trap and his troops in Paris. Ireland came onto the pitch all guns blazing.
In the first half Ireland dominated possession and that all paid off as Duff pulled the ball back for Robbie Keane. he put the ball into the back of the net. Liam Lawrence, Kevin Doyle, Damien Duff, Kevin Kilbane, John O’Shea and Robbie Keane all played like heroes. As the half time whistle went the fans erupted with joy.
In the second half France gained confidence and pushed forward but Richard Dunne and Stephan St Ledger kept France at bay, all the way to the final whistle.
In the thirteenth minute of extra time France got a free kick and the ball came into the box. Thierry Henry handballed it twice and hit it onto William Gallas. He tapped it into the goal. Every Irish person was furious with the ref.
