Port of Cork Boat Tour.

On the 8th of June our class went on a boat tour of Cork Harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world. A coach brought us to the Port of Cork Custom Building. We were given a warm welcome as we entered the boardroom. When inside we sat down at the varnished mahogany semi-circle table, in red leather seats. The chandeliers above our heads were made of Waterford crystal and were very beautiful. Soon afterwards a few members of staff talked about their work and about the history of the port. When they were finished they gave us all goodie bags. We embarked on the boat and headed towards Tivoli and The Millennium gardens. We saw men in cranes who waved at us and we saw Blackrock Castle. We passed Passage West and in Monkstown we saw the Gramaldi Lines cargo ship. It was massive. When we got to the island of Houlbowline we saw the naval buildings and a naval vessel called the LE Niamh. Passing through choppy harbour waters we reached our destination Cobh. We saw a mini liner and a tug boat called Alex which is used to guide heavy ships into the harbour. We also saw the beautiful cathedral on the hill and the colourful houses. We disembarked and headed to J.F Kennedy Park where we ate our packed lunches and played chase. It really was a great day out!

Coin Trail 2009

The Scoil Niocláis Parents Assosciation organised a coin trail for charity. This year we hope to raise enough money to buy a cow from Bóthar. Here are some pictures of us adding our coin collection. We visited the Bóthar website and found it very interesting.

On Wednesday 20th May the junior and senior infant annual sports day took place. The School Council organized a surprise for the 270 children taking part. We provided ice-cream and wafers to the delight of the children. Our class helped on the day. The best part was we got to eat the leftovers!
